STUDIES VS SPORT
When he began studying at the Border Guard Service Institute of Belarus, he initially had to give up canoe sprint for one and a half years, but was eventually able to return to training. "It was difficult to travel into the city [from the institute for training], as I was rarely released. I studied well, and they eventually gave me an opportunity to train. I practised without a coach and for the sake of training, I would wake up at five in the morning. Because of this, there were constantly arguments with the leadership of my institute due to the fact that I missed classes. But physical education teachers fought for me so that I could attend training, although at the time I did not show high results.
