She was encouraged to start boxing by her father and found she liked the competitive nature of the sport. "I did many other sports as a kid; athletics, swimming, gymnastics. But there was a different vibe about boxing. I'm a really competitive person and the excitement and buzz of the sport is like nothing I'd ever felt before. It was something I craved." General
ALTER EGO
She began boxing at age nine at Repton Amateur Boxing Club in London, England, where her father told her to pretend she was a boy called 'Colin' so that she could attend the training sessions. She revealed her true identity to the club after she was booked to fight another boy and had to move to another club in the city. "There were all-girl clubs, but they weren't proper good clubs. My dad said to me, 'If you want to box, you might as well do it properly'. He wanted to take me down to the toughest club, Repton ABC, just to see how I went. I think he must have been thinking of the plan beforehand. Going over in his head what we were going to do. At the time, I didn't really care whether I was Colin or Caroline, as long as I could fight that was it, I was loving it. I'm just so grateful and if I could do anything, I'd go back in time and say thank you to that little nine-year old girl who did it. Right now, I don't think there is any club in England that doesn't allow female fighters so that tells the difference right there." (givemesport.com, 07 Jun 2021; espn.co.uk, 01 Jun 2021; telegraph.co.uk, 10 Jan 2020; hitc.com, 01 Jan 2020)

BROTHER'S INFLUENCE
Her brother Daniel Dubios became British heavyweight champion in 2019. "I can only speak for myself and I know I look up to my brother a lot. Everything he has done from amateur days, nothing has been handed to him on a plate, it has actually been an easier ride for me than it was for him. I really look up to him and what he has managed to achieve and he has proven so many people wrong. I don't ever look at him and be jealous or anything, I get so much inspiration and to just watch him go out there to perform is amazing and I'm really proud to be his sister."
