General
BREAK FROM BOXING
She stopped boxing to start a family at age 19 and had three children. She made her return to the ring at age 26. "I didn't think I'd come back to be honest. I didn't think I'd be able to cope or to train. I initially went to the gym to try to lose a bit of weight but I've not looked back. Being a mum is a lot harder than being a boxer. Being a mum has helped me a lot. It has made me more determined and more strong-minded. I do it for the children, its not just a hobby, I do it for them. As soon as I stepped back in the boxing club I thought I'd see how far I could take it. People think you can't do stuff after having kids, I know people doubted me with three kids. Having doubters makes you more determined and gives you the drive to believe you can do it. I'm just glad I've proved them wrong. Just because you've got children, life doesn't stop." (telegraph.co.uk, 16 Mar 2021; SecondsOut YouTube channel, 13 Mar 2020; bbc.co.uk, 06 Feb 2020)

BOXING AND PARENTING
During the COVID-19 pandemic she balanced her training with home schooling her children. "Obviously, I had the children at home, so I had to be the mum and be the boxer as well. I would do my runs first thing in the morning while the children were still asleep. I would come back and then sometimes my partner would be starting schoolwork, so I would probably come back and do a bit with them as well. Then I would do my Zoom call bag session in the afternoon. By the time he had gone to work, I was then able to, if I needed to, do the kids school work, as he would have prepared their tea. It was a lot of support, you need that. You need to work together."
