She began boxing competitively at age 16. She took two years away from the sport after joining the British Army at age 18, before picking it up again and starting to compete for the British Army. (gbboxing.org.uk, 29 Jan 2020; SecondsOut YouTube channel, 20 Sep 2019)

"I didn't quite make it through school so I got put into a non-mainstream school. PE lessons there were going to a boxing gym every Friday, so from there I just got into it." (GB Boxing YouTube channel, 23 Aug 2019)

General
TIME IN THE ARMY
She serves in the First Royal Artillery regiment in the British Army. "The best decision I've ever made [joining the Army]. They have helped me massively, in progressing to the level I have within boxing. Without their support and allowing me to train in boxing full-time, it would have been a big struggle for me. Not only has it benefited my career but it has remoulded me as a person. I'm more mature, confident, and clued up. The opportunities in the army are endless. If you want to be the best person you can be, the army will definitely help you to achieve that. I like people to know that I'm in the army." (Army Jobs YouTube channel, 13 Jul 2020; bwtalkingsport.wordpress.com, 01 Jan 2020; SecondsOut YouTube channel, 20 Sep 2019)

FUTURE PLANS
She hopes to go through another Olympic cycle and compete at the 2024 Games in Paris. "Turning pro after the [2020] Olympics has crossed my mind and it still does. However, I've sat down and gone through it in my head, I've been on the GB boxing circuit for almost two years [speaking in 2020], and that's nothing. I'm 25, I've got another Olympic cycle in me yet. I've achieved big things in just shy of two years, so imagine what I can achieve with an extra four." (bwtalkingsport.wordpress.com, 01 Jan 2020)
