General Interest

General
Sanne Keizer and Madelein Meppelink teamed up in 2017 after Keizer returned to the sport following a four-year break, during which time she focused on her career in the police and gave birth to twins. In 2012 Keizer competed at the Olympic Games in London with Marleen van Iersel while Meppelink played in London with Sophie van Gestel, with both teams eliminated in the round of 16. At the 2016 Games, Meppelink played with van Iersel and was eliminated at the same stage.

Keizer and Meppelink made their first World Tour podium during the 2018 season when they claimed silver in Mersin. They won a bronze medal in the same season in Vienna, another on the 2019 Tour in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and a third bronze early in the 2020 season in Chetumal, Mexico. The Dutch duo's world championship debut in 2019 ended at the round of 16 stage, when they lost to eventual champions Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes of Canada.

They won their first major title as a team at the 2018 European Championships in Apeldoorn, where they triumphed in the final over Swiss pairing Nina Betschart and Tanja Huberli.
