General
Anders Mol and Christian Sorum will both make their Olympic debut in Tokyo, and are one of the most dominant men's teams on the world stage in recent years. They teamed up in 2016, winning gold that year at the U22 European championships in Greece.

They won their first World Tour medal in 2018 with silver in Itapema, Brazil, and secured their maiden World Tour gold medal in Gstaad, Switzerland, two months later. They claimed a second title the following month in Vienna, before capping the 2018 season with gold in the World Tour Finals over Polish pair Michal Bryl and Grzegorz Fijalek. Mol was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2018 Tour, among several other awards, while Sorum was named Best Defensive Player.

In 2019 they made another 10 World Tour podiums, including seven titles. They could only manage a bronze at the 2019 World Tour Finals in Rome, however, following a semifinal defeat to eventual champions Vyacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy of the Russian Federation. Mol and Sorum were named Most Outstanding Men's Team by the FIVB, while Mol was again honoured as Most Outstanding Player and Sorum as Best Defensive Player.

At their world championships debut in 2019 in Hamburg, the Norwegian duo suffered a semifinal defeat to Germany's Julius Thole and Clemens Wickler, before bouncing back to beat US pair Tri Bourne and Trevor Crabb for third place.
