General Interest

General
Bruno Schmidt is the reigning Olympic champion, having won gold in 2016 with Alison Cerutti. After separating from Cerutti, Schmidt had a short spell playing with Pedro Solberg before partnering up with Evandro in early 2019. Evandro competed in Rio alongside Solberg, and split with Vitor Felipe to join Schmidt ahead of Tokyo.

Rio was an Olympic debut for both players, although they had contrasting fortunes on home sand. While Schmidt and Alison won gold, Evandro and Solberg scraped through their pool before losing in three sets in the round of 16.

Schmidt and Evandro made their first World Tour podium together when they claimed silver at the 2019 event in Jinjiang, People's Republic of China. Schmidt and Evandro mad their world championship debut in 2019, losing to US duo Billy Allen and Stafford Slick in the round of 32.
