His sister Dunja Gerson has also represented Switzerland in beach volleyball, competing at the 2019 European Championships in Moscow, Russian Federation. His father Marc represented Luxembourg in indoor volleyball, competed in beach volleyball and has served as a coach in both sports. His parents were professional volleyball players. He chose to pursue a career in the sport over football. "My father Marc was also my coach for years and has played a major role in making me a better player, and my mother Cornelia has always been an enormous help on the mental side.
