As a child she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her father and become an athlete, but she did not like running, and looked for an alternative. "Most of my friends were playing volleyball and I decided to join them. The city where I lived with my parents, Santeramo, had a team in Italy's first division, so quite naturally most of the young girls living there got easily involved in volleyball." General
SANCTION
She tested positive for the banned substance clostebol in July 2016 and was subsequently sent home from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro days before she was due to compete. She was initially suspended for four years, which was reduced to two years on appeal. She returned to competition in 2018. She initially considered retirement from the sport during her suspension. "I stopped training. I even considered never playing beach volleyball again to be honest. I just resumed training in 2018 and I was trying to enjoy every session because I knew it could end soon. Now I am just enjoying every second." (beachmajorseries.com, 01 Aug 2018; eurosport.com, 28 Jul 2018)

PARTNERSHIP
She initially teamed up with Marta Menegatti in July 2013. After serving her two-year suspension she teamed up with Menegatti again in 2018. (fivb.com, 09 Sep 2015; volleyballmag.com, 09 Mar 2016; beachmajorseries.com, 01 Aug 2018)

EARLY DAYS
She was born in Budapest, Hungary and moved to Italy at age five. She admitted to not liking beach volleyball when she first started playing the sport. "I was born in Hungary, a land-locked country where, as a child, I never got to see a beach or the sea. I have light skin, and I can't stand the sun for a long time. So, when I first started, I thought this was definitely not the thing I was meant to do in life. However, it also turned into a daily challenge and I wanted to go beyond my limits."
