General
PARTNER
In 2019 the retirement of German player Kira Walkenhorst caused a shuffle in German beach volleyball partnerships, leading Borger to team up with Julia Sude. As children she and Sude had played together at beach volleyball events where Borger's mother and Sude's father were competing. "We used to play together in the sand as kids when we were at beach volleyball tournaments with our parents, so it was finally time for us to come together as experienced players to create a solid team. Becoming a team was a bit like coming home. Everything is very familiar." (beachmajorseries.com, 06 Feb 2019; 10 Jan 2019; stimme.de, 02 Jul 2019; bild.de, 27 Jun 2019)

EARLY DAYS
She has grown up around the sport, as her mother would take her and her brothers to tournaments. "My mum has been really influential on me playing beach volleyball. Often during holidays or on the weekends, she took my two brothers and me to her tournaments. We loved it. It was a massive playground to us. No matter if at the beach or in the city we always had a great time. We were probably a pain for some of those players because we always wanted to throw the ball back and forth with them. It was a time that left an indelible mark on us all." (proudtobeathletic.com, 02 Apr 2020)
