General Interest

General
DONATING SALARY
He pledged to donate a significant portion of his 2020 NBA salary to support black-owned businesses and non-profits in the United States of America. The pledge is named the JLH Fund. "With the COVID-19 pandemic and heightened racial injustices in 2020, many of us have been looking for answers. [His wife] Lauren and I found ourselves searching for ways to help our community at a time when they needed it most. Pledging the remainder of our 2020 NBA salary to small black-owned businesses, nonprofits, and initiatives is how we felt we could make a lasting impact. Starting the JLH Fund is probably my biggest accomplishment to date." (Instagram profile, 30 Jun 2021; jlhfund.org, 01 Jan 2021; popsugar.co.uk, 21 Dec 2020)

NBA DRAFT AND CAREER
He was selected in the first round, 17th overall pick, in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He spent four seasons there before transferring to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013/14 season. In 2020 he signed for the Milwaukee Bucks. (basketball-reference.com, 17 Jul 2021)

TIME OFF
He missed the beginning of the 2016/17 NBA season to look after his wife after she gave birth and had to have surgery on a brain tumour. "My family comes before basketball. I'm obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else." (nola.com, 07 Jul 2021)
