He was selected in the second round, 32nd pick overall, in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards. He made his debut for the Wizards in 2016, and was traded to the Chicago Bulls in 2019. He is only the fourth player from the Czech Republic to have played in the NBA. "Four players, that's not many. It shows where basketball was in our country at the time. The NBA has also opened up a lot to Europeans lately. It's easier in that aspect. And hopefully it shows something about the rise of basketball in our country."
