From 1992 to 2002 he spent his coaching career in Argentina, working with Sport Club Canadense [1992-95], Deportivo Roca [1995-97], Regatas de San Nicolas [1997-98], and Estudiantes de Olavarria [1998-2002]. He moved to Spain to coach Lobos Cantabria [2002-03] before returning to Argentina to work with Boca Juniors [2003-05]. Between 2005 and 2010 he completed his first spell as head coach of the Argentina men's team. After a spell as coach of Argentinian club Penarol [2007-13], he moved to Brazil to work with Uniceub [2013-14] before coaching Puerto Rican outfit Piratas de Quebadillas [2014-15]. He then returned to Argentina again and completed his second stint with Penarol [2015-16].
