NATIONAL TEAM COMEBACKS
He first played for the Spanish national team in 2005. In 2012 he was called back to the team for the first time since 2007, and the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will be his first major tournament since the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "It has been many years. I started in 2005, we are in 2021, I never imagined that it would be so long, but every time I come to the national team it is something very special. First, because of the atmosphere and then because it almost always ends up getting a good result, and that helps the environment even more. Being here at age 35, sharing a dressing room with players who were with me at the beginning is awesome." (as.com, 29 Jun 2021; marca.com, 19 Jun 2012)
