After Puerto Rico failed to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, she announced her retirement from the national team. She returned in 2017 after coach Gerardo Batista contacted her, and in 2020 said qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo had been her goal since returning.
