As a young girl she began playing softball and a number of other sports to help with her balance, which was affected by a congenital eye movement disorder called Duane syndrome. As a child she played football, did swimming, gymnastics and dancing, but found that she liked softball the most. "I said, 'I love it [softball], I love it' and my parents said, 'Ok, cool'. And then I told them that I wanted to pitch, and they were like, 'Oh, no, no'. And I said, 'Yeah, it's totally fine'. Then I resolved to become a pitcher, and we were just kind of soft on telling people about my eye, because I was a pitcher, so they didn't freak out or anything." VISUAL IMPAIRMENT
She is legally blind in her left eye due to a congenital eye movement disorder called Duane syndrome, and also has partial hearing loss in her left ear. Before age five she underwent multiple surgeries to correct her vision, without success. As a result of her visual and hearing impairment, her balance was affected as a child, and she was encouraged to take up sports to improve her coordination and balance. "I have never been able to see with 100% vision in both eyes, so for me it's normal." (arizonawildcats.com, 01 Jun 2019; NCAA Softball Twitter profile, 01 Jun 2019; KGUN9 YouTube channel, 27 Jan 2016)

REPRESENTING MEXICO
She was born in Long Beach, CA, United States of America, and is eligible to play for Mexico as members of her family have Mexican origins. In August 2019 she was part of the Mexican team that secured qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "I've dreamt about it [the Olympic Games] since I was a little kid. Just being able to get a chance, even if it wasn't for the United States of America, to represent the other side of my family with the Mexican national team, and being able to try to compete for an Olympic spot and go to the Olympics, that's huge for me." (arizonawildcats.com, 10 Jul 2019; azdesertswarm.com, 28 Jun 2019)

COACH
In August 2019 she joined the University of Arkansas softball programme as a graduate assistant coach. (arkansasrazorbacks.com, 12 Aug 2019)

NPF DRAFT
She was drafted by the Cleveland Comets as the sixth overall pick of the 2019 National Pro Fastpitch [NPF] Draft. (arizonawildcats.com, 01 Jun 2019)
