She grew up in La Porte, TX, United States of America, and is eligible to play for Mexico due to her family heritage. She learned about the possibility of representing Mexico when a hitting coach at Texas A&M University asked her if she had any Mexican lineage. "We had to find anything that we could to prove that I had family that was born in Mexico. That took about a year to complete. I think a lot of times people get caught up and say Mexico is a USA B team. But at the end of the day we have Mexican lineage. We're playing for our families and our heritage and the people that came over to the US to give their families a better lives. And for me, that's a debt I'll never be able to repay to my parents, my grandparents, my great grandparents, anyone that's come before me and my family. I am so excited to say that after more than four years of dedicating my summer vacations to honour my heritage, Team Mexico has qualified for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo."
