The Belarusian women's 4x400m team qualified for Tokyo through the world rankings list. They are making their fifth Olympic appearance, having competed at all four editions of the Games from 2000 to 2012.
Belarus just missed out on the final at the Games in 2000 and 2004, finishing ranked ninth on both occasions after the heats. At the 2008 Games in Beijing they crossed the line fourth in the final, but their result was disqualified in 2016 due to an anti-doping violation by Sviatlana Usovich.
At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, they finished fifth in their heat and did not qualify for the final.
Belarus' most recent appearance in the event at the world championships came at the 2013 edition in Moscow, where they did not reach the final. The team are yet to take part in the World Relays.
