Ecuador are making their Olympic debut in the 4x100m relay event. They qualified for Tokyo after making the final at the 2021 World Relays, where they finished fifth out of the six teams that posted an official result in the final. It was the first time in four attempts that they made a World Relays final since 2015.

Ecuador also failed to make the final at the world championships in 2017, which is their only participation at that tournament to date. They won a bronze medal at the South American championships in May 2021.
