The team attend at least three training camps a year.

General
Great Britain are one of three 4x100m relay teams, alongside Jamaica and the Soviet Union, to have won two Olympic gold medals in the event - only the dominant US team have claimed more. The British team boast 20 Olympic appearances in the event, a total surpassed only by the US team and France, and share honours with the Soviet Union for a total medal count of seven.

Great Britain's first victory came at the 1912 Games in Stockholm when the 4x100m relay made its Olympic debut. They would have to wait 92 years for their second gold, finishing just 0.01s ahead of the US team in the final at the 2004 Games in Athens. The British team were disqualified in their heat in front of a home crowd at London 2012 for an illegal baton exchange, but bounced back to make the final four years later in Rio de Janeiro, where they placed fifth out of the six teams that posted an official result in the final.

In the years after the 2016 Games, the British team have been in medal-winning form. They claimed gold at the 2018 European Championships and bronze at the 2019 World Relays. They ended their 2019 campaign with a silver medal at the world championships in Doha behind the US team, who they had beaten to gold to claim their first world title on home soil at the 2017 edition.
