"Running, immediately, became my hobby that I was totally passionate about. I always had a predisposition to cross-country running. Comparing my results on the running track and in cross-country, I was always better in this second. At some point, I left it behind as lengthening the distance was a natural step. I started road running, and in 2010 I did my first marathon. I began focusing on it from then." (pkobp.pl, 15 Nov 2019)

NEW COACH
He made the decision to train by himself for three years after parting ways with his previous coach in 2016. In mid-2019 he began working with coach Ryszard Marczak following the birth of his son and the desire to reduce his workload. "In 2016 I was considered finished by many coaches and athletes. I had a difficult time recovering from an injury and an unsuccessful fight to return to running form. There was no point working with another coach because I found that no one would give me as much attention as I needed at that stage of my career. I made the decision to work with a coach again for a few reasons. One of them was my disappointing performance at the 2019 Orlen Warsaw Marathon. Another reason was that I had become a father and wanted to spend more time with my son, instead of working on training plans. I also wanted to pass some responsibility to someone else. Planning is one thing, but implementing it and taking care of recovery and rest is something else. The pressure is reduced and that means a calmer head." (arkadiuszgardzielewski.pl, 13 Jul 2019)
