CHANGE OF COACH
In 2019 she changed coach, leaving Greg Smith to begin working with John Quinn. "I'm really happy with that move. John is great, he knows what he's doing. My mental health came first. I wasn't happy so I decided that I had to put that first. I got to a point where I didn't really care about the Olympics so I knew I needed to move myself out of that scenario. Me and my coach [Greg Smith] really weren't on good terms and I didn't want that to interrupt my dreams. Everyone's dream is to go to the Olympics." FROM ETHIOPIA TO AUSTRALIA
Along with her parents and five siblings, she emigrated from Ethiopia to Sydney, NSW, Australia, when she was age three. "I do know that I travelled a lot before I came to Australia. We went to other countries, I know we went to Kenya before coming here. I still have an image of the hotel we actually stayed at in Kenya, but I don't have any memory of Ethiopia."
