Her family had been involved in the sport. "When I was younger I did a lot of long-distance running, 800m and cross-country, but as I got older, I decided I wanted to do more sprinting and it was [coach] Brett Robinson who introduced me to the 400m, 12-year-old me thought I'll give this a try. That was when I decided it was the perfect distance for me. It is just one lap but sometimes it can hurt so bad, especially in the last 20 metres when the lactic acid hits, but I love it."
