"My mum and dad say as soon as I started running, that was it, my heart was set on it. I had no idea actually how it could work as a job and I had no idea about money or earning a living at that kind of age. I was just saying, 'I want to be a runner' whether or not I would get paid. And I was determined about it." (dailyrecord.co.uk, 11 May 2020)

"I just don't use my brain. I just push myself to the absolute limit and don't think about times. I used to overthink it when I was younger and everybody started speaking about splits and personal bests. I was like, 'You know what? I'm going to forget about that'." (thetimes.co.uk, 14 Feb 2020)

General Interest

General
TRAINING PARTNER
She trains with British middle-distance runner and Olympian Laura Muir. The pair share the same coach, Andy Young. "Training with Laura is amazing, I have learned so much from her. I have learned what hard work is. It is lovely, we are also great friends so when we are on camp quite a lot, Andy and Laura are like a second family to me. We haven't found any problem with it, we have always respected each other and we can help each other out a lot. It's really good that we are both good at different things, we can push each other to the limits. It is making Laura's speed better and it is making my endurance better. More athletes need to be like Laura." (runnersworld.com, 20 Feb 2020; athleticsweekly.com, 11 Jun 2020)

GROWTH SPURT
Speaking in early 2020, she said she was training and competing at a higher level than ever because she had grown physically in 2019. "People forget that I'm at that age where I can start pushing my body. When I was younger Andy [Young] would not let me do too much because I was still growing. But I grew half an inch last year and my feet grew half a shoe size. Now I can push myself to the absolute limit and know it's very unlikely I'll hurt myself." (thetimes.co.uk, 14 Feb 2020)
