MORE TO GIVE
After the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro she initially said she did not believe she would compete at another Olympic Games, as she and her husband Jeff were planning to start a family. However, speaking in 2020 after the birth of her daughter in 2019, she said she had no immediate plans to retire yet. "An athlete kind of knows when it's their time to go. I'm not quite there yet, and that's the reason why I'm even still competing. I have a lot more left in the tank and I'm very confident of that. Hurdles is one of those sports where you can see people hurdling until their late 30s. My goal is not to compete until I'm 40. REPRESENTING GREAT BRITAIN
She previously represented the United States of America at international level, but in 2010 switched to compete for Great Britain. "I've had dual citizenship since birth and I've always been proud of my heritage. My mother is from London, England. My father is from Nigeria. I'm not going to apologise for my multi-national background. If anything, I embrace it. It makes me feel very special. The reasons for my change were not because I couldn't make the American team. I could have run for America, Great Britain or Nigeria. I chose Great Britain because I really appreciate the support that we have. I just thought it was the best fit for me." OCCUPATION
In addition to her athletics career she has worked as a pharmacist. She has administered COVID-19 vaccinations. "One of the main reasons I got into the health profession was to help people. When the opportunity to play an instrumental role in helping my community presented itself, I didn't think twice about it. I've now taken a leave of absence until after the Games [2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo]."
