She was inspired by watching British distance runner Mo Farah at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. "I was glued to my TV throughout London 2012. But I went and watched Mo Farah for his 5000m I think it was, and some of the other track and field events were also so inspiring. I knew one day I just wanted to be there."
