In July 2014 he was involved in a motorcycle accident in the city centre of Birmingham, England. He suffered a severe haematoma on his back, a brain injury, a damaged posterior cruciate ligament [knee], a gluteal tear and a heavily bruised lower back. He returned to competition in mid-2015.
