LEGENDARY COACHES
He is coached by US sprinters Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell at the University of Houston in the United States of America. He admits that Lewis' nine Olympic gold medals and Burrell's one Olympic gold medal and status as a former 100m world record holder serve as inspiration for his own athletics career. "It's a privilege, not many get that opportunity. I see how many kids are excited to meet Carl. At track meets, we are warming up and he's taking photos with the parents. It's very motivating and inspiring, especially when you see how much they've done and contributed to the sport. It's something I've never experienced before. Every day I am in his presence and even then, it doesn't click. These guys are two former world-record holders, and it's not an everyday sight. Every time they are present, I am grateful and I'm just glad every day that the coaches like me, because I like the coaching and am always willing to learn." (SportsDeskOnline, 23 Jul 2021; iol.co.za, 20 May 2021)

SIGNATURE CELEBRATION,
He enjoys celebrating in the same fashion after a victorious race. "I have my signature celebration. I got it from watching American football. I call it 'Opening the safe and emptying the safe', where you obviously punch in the code, turn the handle, open the door, put the money in the bag, carry the bag and go home. I only bring it out when I really run a fast time or my personal best. It's my signature, and hopefully no one steals it." (Athletics South Africa YouTube Channel, 02 Jun 2020)
