General Interest

General
FINAL OLYMPIC GAMES
He plans to continue competing for one more year after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, and also hopes to set up a project to develop runners in India. "I will start the programme right after the Tokyo Olympics. I will come here and work with young athletes, because India has got such a wide range of people and we will find some good talent. The plan is on. I plan to continue [competitive athletics] for one more year after the Olympics." (sportstar.thehindu.com, 02 Dec 2019)

WRONG ERA
He feels that being an athlete in the same era as fellow Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has reduced his career achievements. "If you take Usain out of the picture, I'd be the fastest man. I feel like I was born at the wrong time. Nevertheless, I am still proud with what I have achieved. It was Usain's time. I was competing against a giant." (firstpost.com, 03 Dec 2019)

FOUNDATION
In 2011 he set up The YB Afraid Foundation, which works to support organisations and develop programmes that address the educational, physical and mental health needs of underprivileged youths. (ybafraid.com, 28 Feb 2012; YB Afraid Foundation Facebook page, 19 Jan 2016)

SANCTION
He tested positive for methylaxanthine at the 2009 Jamaican Championships. As a result he was banned for three months. (news.bbc.co.uk, 14 Sep 2009)
