In 2020 she underwent surgery on her Achilles tendon. She returned to a regular training schedule in November that year. (runningmagazine.ca, 21 May 2021)
In around early 2015, she was diagnosed with spondyloarthropathy, a genetic rheumatoid condition that left her with inflammation in her joints and intense pain. She adjusted her diet and lifestyle to control the condition, but after attempting to return to training she developed chronic fatigue, was forced to shut down her season and was ruled out of contention for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
