General Interest

General
GOING PRO
In December 2019 he left Mississippi State University in the United States of America in the middle of his third year to start running professionally and focus on preparing for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "This wasn't an easy decision to make, but it was one I would have to make eventually. Ever since I was introduced to Mississippi State, it's been my goal to be the best athlete I can be for this programme. Although I won't be running in a Bulldog uniform anymore, I'll still be a Bulldog for life." (cbc.ca, 24 Dec 2019; runningmagazine.ca, 24 Dec 2019)

FROM SUDAN TO CANADA
Born in Sudan, he emigrated to Canada as a refugee in 2002. "It's an honour to represent the country that accepted and raised me. It's the place I call home and I'm always proud to be a Canadian." (runningmagazine.ca, 24 Dec 2019; sportmanagementhub.com, 17 Sep 2019)
