In December 2017 she was diagnosed with a stress fracture in her hip and a detached pelvic muscle [gluteus medius]. She missed the 2018 season and returned to regular training in January 2019. (kierunektokio.pl, 08 Dec 2019)

She took up athletics at age 14 in Stalowa Wola, Poland. She was competing at school athletics competitions and was noticed by her first coach, Stanislaw Aniol, who invited her to train seriously. "I like running, because I like to feel free. Especially in long distance events I can think about my problems and find solutions. I like to break my own barriers, feel fast, strong and independent." (vumag.pl 11 Jun 2015; bieganie.pl, 04 Oct 2013)

"When I started training, I immediately chose shorter distances and from the beginning I tried to run as fast as possible. I've always loved speed. I liked the life of an athlete very quickly, despite the large number of sacrifices and demanding training. There were lots of trips, I was constantly meeting new people and places, and most of all I was discovering myself." (joannajozwik.co, 02 Feb 2020)

General Interest

General
NEW COACH
After missing the 2018 season due to injury, in the 2019 she began working with coach Jakub Ogonowski. "Jakub knows me very well, he was up to date with my training over the last six years and as the only person other than Andrzej Wolkowycki [former coach], he knows what kind of speed training I need. After such serious injuries I was worried about returning to the same training routine. I would not be able to fully trust my previous coach, and I would probably argue a lot about what and how I should do things during training sessions. I needed a big change and a new stimulus to prevent further injuries." (kierunektokio.pl, 08 Dec 2019)

RUNNING CAMP
She has organised running camps for women called JJ Run Camp. "I think it's a great opportunity to gather a group of women that like running, or would like to take up running, to share their experiences. For them it's an escape from reality. Girls can open up with other girls, share their problems. It's a week to leave everything behind and come back fully refreshed. I know that running built me, not only my body, but also my character. Sport gives motivation and self-confidence. I want to motivate women to get off the couch and share my positive energy to take on difficult challenges. I would like to keep on organising these kind of events after my retirement." (bieganie.pl, 02 Jan 2021; sportdziennik.com, 08 Oct 2020)
