She ended her 2018 season early due to an injury to her lower leg, and the problem continued to affect her throughout 2019. Although she was able to finish fourth in the 100m at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar, she had to pull out of the semifinal of the 200m. "It's not an Achilles injury. Her Achilles gets tight because of something elsewhere. She has tight muscles in her body that in turn pull on her tendon," coach Stephen Francis said.
