Her husband Jamari Rose has competed internationally in athletics representing Jamaica, notably winning bronze as part of the 4x400m relay team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia. Her sister Samantha James has also competed in athletics internationally for Jamaica. She won silver in the 4x400m relay at the 2016 NACAC U23 Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador. She combined her studies at the Mico University College in Kingston, Jamaica, with athletics training until she graduated in December 2019. She says balancing the two was challenging at times. "Last year [2018] was really, really tough for me. I had to wake up at like 03:00 and I wouldn't go to bed until 00:00, so it showed me how strong I am." (jamaica-gleaner.com, 07 Jun 2019)
