"I had the dream to go to the Olympic Games like every little girl. The older you get, the more difficult it is to believe that you can actually make that dream come true. Therefore, many athletes eventually quit. I had also stored that dream, but I always resolved to keep doing my best. That paid off, because look where I am already." (flair.be, 13 Oct 2019)

BALANCING SPORT AND STUDY
She decided to spread the final year of her physiotherapy degree over two years from 2019 onward, in order to focus more on sport. She says she plans to prioritise sport through to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. "Since this year [2019] I've realised that I could go far in the field of sports. So I intend to spread my last year of study over two years so that I can focus on sport and hopefully compete at the Olympic Games, so that I will not regret it later in life. Tokyo may be just a little too early, which is why I am also looking forward to Paris 2024. You always want to compete for the medals, that will certainly be a goal. I think the [2024] Olympics will be the finish for me. After that I want to focus fully on my future career as a physiotherapist. My goal would be to help other athletes get to the top of their sport. That is something I am really looking forward to." (sporza.be, 21 Jul 2019; flair.be, 13 Oct 2019)
