She was playing basketball for 13 years but wanted to try something new. "I felt on the basketball side that I was starting to run out of steam. I wanted to discover a new world. When I played basketball people often praised my speed, and I already liked to run. I had tried cross-country but I was not able to succeed, and I tried throwing events, jumping, and the 100m, but it was in the 400m that I blossomed."
