When he took up athletics he combined it with football training for the first two years, but then decided to focus only on athletics. "First athletics training was just great fun. We were sometimes late for training and didn't meet the coaches' expectations. Then, at 17, I started to train with Nada Bendova and Robert Krestanko and it was the beginning of real training, I trained twice a day and we went to training camps. That was the turning point."
