General Interest

General
MEDAL UPGRADE
She was part of the Brazilian 4x100m relay team at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing that initially finished fourth in the final. In 2017 they were upgraded to the bronze medal position after a member of the Russian team returned an adverse analytical finding. "I feel like a medallist but at the same time I don't feel like one. I have the medal, but I don't have that feeling of having read my name on the big screen. [That is why] I now want to run all around the track and to have that special feeling." (globoesporte.globo.com, 03 Jun 2019)

TIME ABROAD
She spent six years living in the United States of America between 2013 and 2019. She initially shared an apartment with fellow Brazilian athletes Evelyn dos Santos and Tamiris de Liz, and was given financial support by the Brazilian Olympic Committee [COB]. However, it became financially more difficult for her to stay there after the COB withdrew funding following the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and her flatmates decided to return to Brazil. She began working as a driver for a ride sharing app in 2017 to supplement her income but this began causing her back pain, and in 2019 she decided it would be better to prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo from Brazil. "Due to the injury I did not run well in 2018. In 2019 I did not get very good results either, so I thought it was better to go back." (globoesporte.globo.com, 16 Dec 2019, 03 Jun 2019)

DRIVER
She worked as a driver for a ride sharing app wile she was living in Jacksonville, FL, United States of America, and her passengers would often be surprised that they were being taken to their destination by an Olympic athlete. "In order to earn more tips, you have to talk to the passenger. I say that I am new in the city and they always ask me why I am here. I say that I am training, that I'm a Brazilian athlete and that I won an Olympic medal! It's funny because they said, 'Can I Google your name? Wow, that's really you!' And they ask for a picture."
