In May 2020 she suffered a foot injury and returned to competition at an event in Wetzlar, Germany, in July that year. (leichtathletik-datenbank.de, 16 Jan 2021; faz.net, 03 Sep 2020)
In early 2018 she began suffering thigh flexor muscle problems in both legs. She did not compete for the rest of 2018, and only took part in the world relays in Yokohama, Japan, in 2019, before returning to regular competition in early 2020. She began focusing on sprinting at age 16. (Deutsche Sporthilfe Magazine, 01 Jan 2016)
:
She played handball, volleyball and badminton as a child, before she was introduced to athletics by a friend. After trying a number of disciplines she stopped going to training because she did not like the throwing events. "At first I didn't really enjoy athletics because I realised pretty quickly that I wasn't very good at throwing." A coach had seen potential in her and encouraged her to give athletics a second try, so she started doing long jump and sprint events before focusing solely on sprinting. (Deutsche Sporthilfe Magazine, 01 Jan 2016)

To compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. (fr.de, 14 Jan 2021)
:
In August 2020 she left her former coach Rudiger Harksen to work under a new coach, David Corell, as she wanted to try a different approach to training as she looked for a way to combat her injury issues. In early 2021 she was following Corell's block system, where athletes focus on one area at a time, such as strength or speed, in four-to-six week periods. "After the [2020] German championships it was clear that I had to change something and there was a decision for me to make. I've settled in very well [with Corell]. We have found a very good system where we can build up my body really well and I have been training without pain for several weeks." (fr.de, 14 Jan 2021; faz.net, 03 Sep 2020)
