He started running at age two and took up athletics at age six while growing up in Berlin, Germany. He discovered his talent for 400m in 2011. "As part of an evening sports festival, I ran against a women's 4x100m relay team for fun and without special training. "My passion for running was awakened at the tender age of two, because my big sister was faster than me and I did everything to become faster than her. Following the 2019 season he ended an 11-year partnership with coach Nadine Grossopf. He moved to Birmingham, England, to train under British coach Tony Hadley alongside compatriot Patrick Schneider, having raised 9,000 Euros to fund his rent and travel, but was forced to remain in Germany following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Everything was carefully planned, rent, flights, money for physiotherapy, but I was no longer allowed to travel to England, where I had left many of my things.
