REPRESENTING GERMANY
Born in Meschede, Germany, to a German mother and a US father, at age two he moved with his parents to the United States of America, where he attended school and university in the state of Maryland. He made the decision to represent the country of his birth while he was at university, and moved to Germany after graduating in 2016. "The connection to Germany has always remained. I was born there and my mother's family lives there. After graduating, nothing stopped me from making this dream come true." (leichtathletik.de, 10 Oct 2017)

COLLEGIATE CAREER
While competing for Salisbury University in the United States of America, he won 11 national titles, which was a National Collegiate Athletic Association [NCAA] Division III record for the most titles won by a male athlete across indoor and outdoor competition. "Salisbury has definitely shaped me into who I am today. I was fortunate enough to have a coach [Jim Jones] that saw potential in me, something I couldn't even see in myself at the time. It's a great feeling to be considered and be up there as one of the best athletes in Division III. There's been a lot of greats before me. It's an honour, to be able to do it for my school and my teammates." (eu.delmarvanow.com, 01 Mar 2016; thesuflyer.com, 13 May 2019; c2csports.com, 05 Jun 2016)

ARMED FORCES ATHLETE
In 2018 he joined the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Germany. "That was an important change in my life. Without financial worries, you can train more relaxed." (fr.de, 26 Sep 2019)
