In February 2020 she ran the Seville Marathon in Spain wearing shoes of different sizes. She qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo through her performance in the race. "I had been finishing my races with pain in my feet. When I ran my left foot always had a wound or a nail problem and it was painful. [In 2019] I went to Oregon [in the United States of America] to do some tests and I discovered that my left foot is much bigger than my right. I was encouraged to wear different shoe sizes, so I tried and I realised everything was fine. SANCTION
She won gold in the women's marathon at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, ON, Canada, but was later stripped of the medal after testing positive for the banned substance furosemide in September 2015. She was banned for six months, with her suspension ending on 09 March 2016. She claimed that she consumed the substance [a diuretic] as medical treatment for renal failure [kidney].
