His father Michal has represented Poland in decathlon, and his younger brother Roch has competed in javelin at junior national level in Poland. His wife Agnieszka Bukowczyk represented Poland in high jump at junior level, including the 2010 World Junior Championships in Moncton, NB, Canada. COACHING BOND
He says the working relationship developed being coached by his father has not always been easy. "That kind of relationship between a coach and athlete can be difficult, because we will be more honest with each other than if we weren't family. It used to get rather heated between us, especially when I was young, but we managed to survive the difficult times." He admits they can still argue, but says it is often a motivating factor. "It's not always perfect, but we don't have any big fights. We like to talk, discuss or even argue, but more for fun. It gives you a bit more motivation when you try to prove something to your coach." (tvp.pl, 07 May 2021)
