At age 15 she left Rimouski, QC, Canada to live with her aunt in Quebec City, QC, to further her training, prioritising her sport over her education. "I went to [education provider] CEGEP in more years than normal because I was in a sports-study program. I also left my university studies. I haven't been able to start them full time yet. I have had to make a lot of choices over the years which have not always been easy and my selection for the Olympic team proves that I made the right choices."
