"My sisters inspired me to start synchronised swimming because they did it at school. Every afternoon, I would go with my grandmother to sit and watch them. I was five at the time, so being the person that I am, I didn't do much sitting. I would practise on the sideline, trying to copy their every move." (wellnessfingerprint.com, 01 Jan 2019)

COMEBACK
She decided to stop competing in artistic swimming in 2019 after hearing that an artistic swimming duet from South Africa would not be sent to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. After it was later announced that a duet would be sent to Japan, she contacted Clarissa Johnston, who came out of a six-year retirement to train with her, with the duo winning the 2021 South African National Championships in Gqeberha, South Africa and qualifying for the Games in Japan. "Qualification [for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo] still feels unreal, but it is huge for our sport in South Africa. Many people do not know that this sport exists in our country." (Expresso Show YouTube Channel, 05 Jul 2021; Instagram team profile, 09 May 2021)
