She took up the sport at age eight. (estadodemexico.jornada.com.mx, 25 Nov 2020)
:
Her parents enrolled her in sporting activities such as athletics, basketball and swimming. During swimming lessons she discovered artistic swimming and was hooked by the sport. After feeling disappointed that she was not improving, however, she then focused on athletics and took part in a junior national competition before being encouraged to return to artistic swimming by a former coach. At age 14 she decided to focus full-time on the sport. "During a competition in Oaxtepec, Mexico, the first team was doing an exhibition and I was told they represented the national team. I said, 'Does that really exist?' And, at that moment, I wanted to be in that team and to represent Mexico." (estadodemexico.jornada.com.mx, 25 Nov 2020)

General Interest

General
FROM LONG-TIME RESERVE TO FIRST CHOICE
She first joined the Mexican national team at age 17, but was largely named as a reserve for the duet team until she became an established first choice in 2019 when she was partnered with Nuria Diosdado. "Training as a substitute is difficult, because you have to learn the routines and positions of both athletes in case something ever happens to one of them. You also have to always train to 100 percent of your ability so that the coach will notice and say, 'This girl is excelling and I have to try her'. My trajectory was not fast, I was climbing little by little, but I did not despair. I am grateful for everything that I learned during that time and, right now, I am taking advantage of the opportunity and I am not going to let it go." (milenio.com, 27 Aug 2020)

FURTHER EDUCATION
She has studied for a master's degree in sports psychology at the Technological University of Mexico [UNITEC]. (estadodemexico.jornada.com.mx, 25 Nov 2020; sincro.mx, 01 Jan 2019)
