General Interest

General
The United States of America have won a medal at every edition of the Olympic Games since 1992, and have been crowned Olympic champions three times during that period. They claimed their first Olympic gold medal in Atlanta in 1996, and secured back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2016. The 2016 team, dubbed the 'Final Five', convincingly secured the gold medal as they topped the score for each apparatus in the final, led by one of the Rio Games' biggest stars, Simone Biles.

The US team have been consistent performers at the world championships, claiming a medal in every team all-around competition since 2001. The team have won the past five world titles and seven of the past nine, with their victory in 2018 also qualifying the team for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Unsurprisingly, they have a near-unblemished record at continental level. At 15 appearances at the Pan American Games since 1959, they have only once been denied gold.
