She injured her left knee during training two days before the start of the 2021 NHK Cup in Tokyo, Japan, which also served as the national selection trials for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. She went on to claim victory in the all-around event. (sankei.com, 15 May 2021)

In 2019 she sustained an injury to the sacroiliac joint which connects the lower spine to the pelvis. It meant that she withdrew from the 2019 NHK Cup, which served as a national team selection trial for the world championships that year, and required three months of rehabilitation.
