She took up archery with a recurve bow during her third year at school in Ust'-Ordynskiy, Russian Federation. In 2011 she tried shooting a compound bow but eventually switched back to the recurve. (infpol.ru, 12 Mar 2021; baik-info.ru, 01 Mar 2018)

She did not like physical education classes at school, so she got involved in archery because she thought it was an easy sport. "How wrong I was! When I got into the national team, I had to like running. And then the love of fitness training came. But I never considered other sports. Although before archery I attended many clubs and groups."
