General Interest
Tuvalu made its Olympic debut at the 2008 Games in Beijing, sending a three-person team to compete in athletics and weightlifting. Just one of the 2008 Olympians, Asenate Manoa, competed at the next Games in London. She ran the 100m sprint at both, improving her time of 14.05 seconds, run as a 16-year-old in Beijing, to 13.48 seconds at the London Games.
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Tuvalu sent a delegation of one athlete, two fewer than its delegation at the previous two Games in Beijing and London. Etimoni Timuani competed on the track in the men's 100m.
